Doom Butterflies
The fierce Doom Butterflies are the most powerful natural threat in Eden. They often appear during aggressive vine growth, and strike anything nearby that threatens to approach the vine mass. Not only are they able to fly over both land and sea, they also have high speed and the dangerous Fear ability (which reduces the morale level of units they attack by 2).
Doom Butterflies engage in Psi Combat, in which attack and defence strengths are ignored, and the attacker is given a 3 to 2 advantage. Morale level is quite important in defending against Doom Butterflies and other native units.
With skillful use of various Native pheromones, Doom Butterfly Swarms can be amassed at cities. Doom Butterflies can be used to attack enemy units using Psi Combat, thus bypassing enemy advantages in technology. Psi Clinics and other facilities can increase the strength of trained Doom Butterflies. Like any native unit, players can also dismiss Doom Butterflies to operate under their own instincts, to harass and disrupt an enemy.
